Welcome to the Renaissance, where humanism has brought light and spirit into places of rigor and isolation. Games are played, music is heard, ideas are discussed, perspectives debated, refreshments are served, and the arts & sciences of the 14th – 16th centuries are taught.
The Ca’ d’Oro Renaissance Salon hosts Late Period Life (LPL) classes during Gulf Wars and is located on Artisan’s Row. Ca’ d’Oro offers a variety of demos, activities, and classes focused on Western Europe post-1300 life. In addition to the general class area there is the La Bella Donna Historical Apothecary, the Gaming Tables, and the Enchanted Ground area. There will be open gaming each day from 12noon to 1pm, enchanted ground persona play from 4pm to 5pm daily, and an Italian Social on Friday from 5pm to 9pm.
The class track for Gulf Wars XXIV consists of fashion (Tudor and Italian), heraldry (silk banner making, submissions, achievements, and using software for consultations), games (playing cards, bocce, primiera, calculi, gluckhaus, backgammon, and more), historical toilette (perfume, hygiene, and beauty products for men and women), and informational demos during open hours.
There will be a silent auction to benefit future Ca’ d’Oro class areas and Pavilion improvements. The silent auction will open Monday at 9am. There will also be a period luncheon on Italian Day (Friday) where participants are served an authentic Italian mid-day feast.
Italian Day (Friday) is our theme day for Gulf Wars XXIV and is sponsored by the Italian Apothecary. There will be Italian focused classes all day, a mid-day feast, and an Italian Social to finish the evening. We hope to see all the Italian personae there on Friday!
We couldn’t offer such a great class schedule without help from wonderfully talented and dedicated volunteers. Thank you to all the great teachers and staff that support this endeavor to bring a Renaissance Salon to Gulf Wars.
